ABOUT US

Where Culture Meets Movement

Konpa SanLimit is more than dance—it’s a cultural experience rooted in Haitian heritage and connection.

Konpa SanLimit Dance Company is dedicated to teaching Konpa, a traditional Haitian dance known for its smooth rhythm and intimate partner connection. We create a space where students not only learn steps but also understand the cultural meaning behind the movement. Our mission is to build confidence, connection, and community through dance.

Steps

Feel the rhythm, master the movement.

Konpa steps are built on a smooth, grounded rhythm that emphasizes control, flow, and musical interpretation. The movement is not about complexity but about precision and consistency, where weight transfer, timing, and body alignment work together to create effortless motion. Dancers learn how to stay relaxed while maintaining structure, allowing the hips, feet, and upper body to move naturally with the beat. Mastery of these steps creates the foundation needed for both solo expression and partner dancing.

We are committed to creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment where all students, guests, and community members feel comfortable. By joining our classes or events, participants agree to uphold respectful behavior and help maintain a safe and inclusive dance space for everyone.

  • Respect Everyone

Treat instructors, students, guests, and staff with kindness, patience, and professionalism at all times. We value a community where every person feels acknowledged, welcomed, and respected regardless of background, skill level, or experience.

  • Zero Harassment

Harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, or any unwanted verbal or physical behavior will not be tolerated. Konpa SanLimit is committed to maintaining a safe space where everyone can learn and enjoy dance without fear of discomfort or mistreatment.

  • Consent Matters

Personal boundaries must always be respected in both classes and social events. Partner dancing should be based on clear communication, mutual comfort, and the understanding that anyone has the right to decline or stop a dance at any time.

  • Positive Environment

Supportive energy helps everyone grow. Encourage fellow dancers, celebrate progress, and contribute to an atmosphere that is uplifting, motivating, and enjoyable for beginners and experienced dancers alike.

  • Hygiene & Preparedness

Please arrive clean, well-groomed, and dressed appropriately for movement. Good personal hygiene and being prepared for class helps create a comfortable and respectful shared experience for all dancers.

  • Follow Instructor Guidance

Respect class structure by listening to instructors, following directions, and honoring event or venue guidelines. This ensures classes run smoothly, safely, and productively for everyone involved.

  • Community First

Our community thrives when everyone contributes positively. Individuals whose behavior repeatedly disrupts the safety, comfort, or experience of others may be asked to leave classes or events to protect the integrity of the space.
